If you’ve ever taken a road trip to Los Angeles, you’ve probably contemplated stopping on the way there or back at Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino. This hotel drew in customers with its roller coaster and log flume rides, which are clearly visible from the highway. Despite offering travelers a convenient stop to rest on the border between California and Nevada, Buffalo Bill’s is bringing its operations to an almost-total standstill. Located in Primm in Clark County, this hotel is about 45 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. And like many other hotels in Nevada and the rest of the world, business has slowed down since the pandemic. In fact, it has slowed down so much that Buffalo Bill’s parent company, Affinity Interactive, has decided to wind down its operations. This comes just months after shutting down Whiskey Pete’s Casino. Is this closure an anomaly, or a sign of the overall economic status of Las Vegas and Nevada as a whole? Read on to learn more about the Buffalo Bill’s shutdown. If you are struggling with debt in Las Vegas or Henderson, know that debt relief is available. What Happened To Buffalo Bill’s?

Don’t expect the iconic log flume and roller coaster to be torn down and replaced with something else any time soon. Buffalo Bill’s has received permission to close down from the Clark County Commission. However, in order to retain its gambling license, Buffalo Bill’s must operate at least one eight-hour day per quarter until June 29, 2027. Using this business model will allow the resort and casino to reduce its operating costs, as it has been drawing in few weeknight visitors since the pandemic. Now, it will instead be used for special events and concerts eight to ten times per year. With Buffalo Bill’s mostly closed, this leaves Affinity to run the only remaining hotel in the area, Primm Valley Resort. Affinity made timely updates to the resort, such as new carpeting, restaurant upgrades, and new gaming options. Affinity’s strategy partially relies on a new Jean-Primm airport, but construction is not slated to be complete for that project until 2037.

Will the shutdown of Buffalo Bill’s make way for Primm Valley Resort to thrive as a gateway to Southern California from Nevada? Or will Los Angelenos continue to simply continue on their sub-five-hour journeys to the Strip? Only time will tell this, and if Buffalo Bill’s is worth retaining as a special events space. It also unfortunately means the loss of stable employment for both Buffalo Bill’s and Whiskey Pete’s.

The Las Vegas Lull

There’s no denying that tourism is on the decline in Nevada in 2025, with most of that tourism being to downtown Las Vegas. Both the Strip and Fremont Street offer numerous options for hotels and casinos with special attractions and vibrant nightlife. But almost every factor used to measure tourism is down in Las Vegas, Henderson, and the surrounding areas, which includes Primm.

For the month of July 2025, tourism in Las Vegas is down 12%, or 420,000 visitors, as compared to July 2024. Incoming flights at Harry Reid International Airport were down less, at 5.7%, reflecting a greater drop in domestic tourism than international tourism. Another way to assess tourism is through hotel room occupancy. For June 2025, hotel occupancy is down approximately 15%, with revenue per room decreasing by almost 29%. Fortunately, gaming revenue in Clark County is slightly up compared to the same time last year. But with a city full of performers and employees who rely on tips, this significant of a decline in tourism is bound to have consequences. If you are a Henderson resident struggling to get by thanks to the Las Vegas lull, bankruptcy might be able to help. How To Know When It’s Time To Declare Bankruptcy

Las Vegas is one of the largest tourist destinations in the world, so when tourism decreases, it affects residents of that area and surrounding cities like Henderson. The cost of living has been shooting up while tourists and even local customers have been dwindling down. This can easily lead to a family accruing debt that is difficult to repay. This might be through credit cards, personal loans, or other types of lines of credit. Once the person begins getting hit with interest, late fees, and other expenses associated with having debt, it becomes much harder to pay it off. Bankruptcy can clear debts that are weighing down a household and protect them from creditors with the automatic stay. Everyone’s situation is different, but there are a few telltale signs that it is time to at least consider filing for bankruptcy, such as:

  • You have stopped answering your phone when you receive calls from unknown numbers, as you fear they may be from your creditors
  • You need to get out of a contract you can no longer afford without paying penalties, such as an apartment lease or car loan
  • Your auto lender is threatening to repossess your vehicle
  • You have received a three-day notice to pay or quit
  • Your creditors have begun trying to reach you at other places besides your personal phone, like school or work
  • Your interest and other fees have brought your monthly expenses too high to continue paying
  • You want to clear long-standing debts before an important life change, such as getting married or divorced
  • You have received a summons for a creditor lawsuit associated with your debt
  • You have received notice of a writ to garnish your wages, or your wages are already being garnished
  • Your home lender has provided notice that they intend to proceed with a foreclosure of your home
  • You want to file for bankruptcy and clear your debts before any of the above happens to you
